HOTEL JEN MANILA: WHERE YOU CAN LEAVE BORING BEHIND

          Without a doubt, the Philippines is still a third world country, but you'd never know it from the wide range of internationally renowned luxury hotels scattered around the metropolis. One such hotel often gets lost in the shuffle of the high profiles names is Hotel Jen. Being part of the Shangri-la group, one of the biggest names in hospitality world wide, it's clear to see why Hotel Jen can easily be overshadowed by its higher profile sister companies, but when you cut to the heart of it, when it comes to service and accomodations, Hotel Jen Manila can actually stand side by side with the best in the country today!

            Though it is seen more as a business hotel, Hotel Jen makes an effort to make their guests leave boring behind, with small nuances like an Instagram stand at the lobby where you can stop for a quick photo opportunity. 

THE EXECUTIVE SUITE

           We walked into the Executive Suite, and immediately saw a personalized welcome message on the television!

        However, we were stunned by the sheer size of the living room, which had a delightful "Homey" feel to it. The Living room was furnished with a comfortable couch, and chair for easy viewing, and a work desk by the picture window. 

         The living room was so big, if this had been our room with the bed being pulled out from the sofa , we would have been happy campers.  

             But then we might have missed out on the incredibly huge Masters bedroom! Yet another couch is located by the picture window, making it a relaxing spot to read or watch TV. 

           But of course, I couldn't resist that inviting king sized bed.. As I came a little closer to it, I saw Hotel Jen had a little surprise for me set up!

            Here's a quick 60 Tour of Hotel Jen's Executive Suite! 

THE CLUB LOUNGE

      When going for a staycation, I always recommend that you pay a little extra for access Club Lounge. 

        This rings especially true when staying at Hotel Jen, because their Club Lounge, perched high on the 19th floor, is absolutely spectacular, and offers a breathtaking view of Manila Bay.   

         We picked a spot by the window and enjoyed the complimentary afternoon drinks and snacks that were available (There's food practically all day!!!), and spent a few hours of family time together, mesmerized by the splendor of the beautiful city that is Manila. 

      After awhile, Rina and Rain headed back to the room, while I stayed to watch the sunset as I worked on my blog backlog. Not a bad workstation for the day, huh?

            It was honestly hard to get any work done with this beautiful view in front of me though..

          As darkness fell unto our majestic capital, the fountains of the Cultural Center of the Philippines came to life, and was a playful visual spectacle. 

FACILITIES

SWIMMING POOL

      

     Rain was ecstatic to find out that Hotel Jen has a swimming pool as well! 

Not only does it have a swimming pool, but a kiddie sized pool as well, which was perfect for a morning of fun with her friend, Sky!

FITNESS CENTER

          Health conscious guests need not worry about their physical fitness, as Hotel Jen has a gym equipped with the essential exercise equipment to get their blood flow going.  

            Weight Machines are also available in case you want to go into more rigorous lifting. The only thing I was interested in lifting was a spoon to my mouth.

THE CLUB LOUNGE DINING

       After the 2-4 Unlimited Afternoon snacks which consists of fingers sandwiches and other light canapes, The Club Lounge provides a delightful Merienda Cena that could very well make you forget about your other dinner plans.

MERIENDA CENA

           You can start off your Merienda Cena with the classic combination of Wine and Cheese. 

         Standout dishes were the Fish Fillet in Lemon Sauce, and the Pork Belly in Pepper Cream Sauce. 

               The selection of desserts were also delicious, ranging from Strawberry Sponge cakes to Cookies and Cream Cheese cakes!

CLUB LOUNGE BREAKFAST

             In the morning, from around 6am to about 10:30, The Club Lounge serves a hearty breakfast! 

Go crazy with Danish Pastries, French Toast, Waffles, Pancakes and Breads.

            I'm happy the had the breakfast essentials.. Bacon, Hashbrowns, and Sausages!

              If you want to start your morning with something light, then you can go for the modest selection of cereals and yogurt, as well as make your own morning salad.

LATITUDE

          For dinner, me and my food blogger friends gathered at Latitude, Hotel Jen's flagship Cafe, for their Saturday Barbecue Night! 

        Some of the highlights of the evening were:

The Herb Roasted Chicken

The Lengua Estofado 

The Roasted Leg of Lamb was spectacular!

              Latitude's buffet is perhaps one of the most affordable you'll find in a hotel today, and has a special theme every day.
