Since opening in the last quarter of 2015, the Halal Guys has taken the Philippines by storm. Who would have thought that a small food cart business in New York would would be welcomed with such open arms in our country? But it just goes to show that no matter where you're from, delicious food will always find a home with Filipinos!
Since their opening, The Halal Guys Philippines has continued to innovate their menu, coming up with dishes that stay true to the Halal practice, while maintaining its appeal to the local palate.
A great example is the new Halal Guys Hot Wings, a fiery new dish that will tantalize your taste buds! And the awesome news? The Halal Guys is offering a discount when you order via Food Panda!
I think one of the best signs of how warmly Filipinos has accepted The Halal Guys, is how from food court stalls and food trucks, their stores have evolved into brick and mortar structures, like their newest branch at the ground floor of the sparkling new Ayala At The 30th. In case you were wondering, apart from the original branch at SM Mega Fashion Hall, The Halal Guys now has branches at BGC (Two outlets along Bonifacio High Street), a branch at Alabang Town Center, SM North Edsa, and Eastwood.
HOT WINGS
How do you like our wings? Well, I like mine with a simple touch of heat, a little hint of sweetness for balance, and wonderfully sticky. Which is exactly how The Halal Guy's Hot Wings (P189 Ala Carte, 6pcs) are! Of course, if you like your wings with a little more scorching heat, you can request the spice level to be upped to their "Signature Spice"! (I was fine with "Easy Spice".. although it sounded like the name of what would have been my favorite Spice Girl #DadJoke)
Adding a drizzling of The Halal Guys' white sauce put this over the top. And the great news is, the white sauce isn't served just in small packets anymore! You can actually keep the bottle with you now! (On your table that is. In the restaurant. I found that out the hard way. Good thing the security guard was nice man.)
If you're like my beautiful wife, and need to eat everything with Rice, don't worry, The Halal Guys has a Hot Wings Platter (P229 for 4 wings)ready for you! The platter is reminiscent of their chicken and gyro platters, which consists of their trademark rice, served with tomato chunks, lettuce, and pita bread slices.
Good news from The Halal Guys! The Hot Wings is now available for delivery via Food Panda! And in even more awesome news, from NOW until August 3, you'll get a 15% discount off every The Halal Guys Hot Wings Platter that you order when using the FoodPanda App!
SIDES
I was pleasantly surprised to see there was another new item on the menu (New to me, that is), which was the Chicken over Fries (P189 regular, P99 Small). Delicious bits of chicken are laid over a bed of crispy golden fries, and drizzled with their signature sauces. I can imagine this would be a beer drinker's ideal pulutan hehe.. Great Side dish!
DESSERT
I'm a huge fan of Baklava (The food, not the question), and The Halal Guys Baklava (P80) was up to my standards. Admittedly on the sweeter side (Which I don't mind), I enjoyed the flakiness and how it wasn't overly sticky as some Baklava's tend to be. Definitely a great way to end a satisfying meal!
Thank you to the awesome team behind The Halal Guys! Since Ayala at the 30th is quite near my office, you'll be seeing a lot of me in the near future!
P.S.
While waiting for me to come home, my Baby Rain fell asleep on the sofa in the living room. As I lifted her to carry her to our room, she woke up and gave me a big hug! She saw I was holding the little Halal Guys Pillow that they had given to me, and she immediately grabbed it and hugged it, and said, "Take my picture, Daddy!". (Sleepy pa siya sa lagay na yan ha)
