The sparkling new renovation of Podium Mall opened up opportunities for more shops and restaurants to settle into the bustling Ortigas center. Recently, a sprawling Food Hall opened, named, "The Corner Market". Spanning roughly around 1,200 square meters, The Corner Market is set to house 17 food establishments in its massive halls.
Your friendly neighborhood Pickiest Eater made the ultimate sacrifice for his beloved readers, to try the food stalls that have opened their doors at the Corner Market.. Where good food is just around the corner!
I heard a lot of great things about Hamaru Yakitori and Sushi at Crave Park, but since it's a little out of the way for lazy old me, I've never actually got to visit. Though the doors of Hamaru may be closed, the brilliant minds behind their kitchen, refused to let the Hamaru name die, so it conceptualized a little brother stall at The Corner Market Food Hall, that serves rather unique Japanese dishes.. Inari by Hamaru.
Though Inari also serves Japanese Sushi Favorites such as the Spicy Tuna Roll, what sets it apart from the other is how they use black rice for their creations, giving their customers a healthier alternative, without sacrificing taste and quality.
Inari is derived from "Inarizushi" which is essentially Sushi Rice creations stuffed in a fried Tofu Pockets. One such creation is the Crab Tank Tofu Pocket. I'm not too big on crab (I try to stay away because I'm worried about being allergic), but this had a nice creaminess that turned out to be not as bad as I thought. Quite good actually.
In the future, I'd like to try their tuna and Tofu Pocket!
Inari by Hamaru also offers a wide array of Kushiyaki or Kushikatsu (Grilled or Fried) Skewers, which you may pair with several sauces and sides!
Truly a unique Japanese dining experience!
