The sparkling new renovation of Podium Mall opened up opportunities for more shops and restaurants to settle into the bustling Ortigas center. Recently, a sprawling Food Hall opened, named, "The Corner Market". Spanning roughly around 1,200 square meters, The Corner Market is set to house 17 food establishments in its massive halls.
Though not all 17 are operational yet, your friendly neighborhood Pickiest Eater made the ultimate sacrifice for his beloved readers, to try the food stalls that have opened their doors at the Corner Market.. Where good food is just around the corner!
I've heard good things about Birdhouse since they opened at Uptown Mall in BGC a few years back, but unfortunately I had never gotten a chance to try it. However, since they opened a branch at the new Corner Market at Podium, which is just a few steps away from my office, I would soon rectify that situation.. and find myself kicking myself for not going sooner.. Because the food I discovered was spectacular.
As much as I hate to belabor the obvious, Birdhouse specializes in Chicken dishes. A couple of items they let us try that stood out for me, the first of which were the Cheese and Caramel Popcorn Wings (P199 for 6pcs/ 395 for 12pcs).
It was the Caramel variant that really hit the mark for me, with the lightly sweet glaze on the crispy wings complimenting the savoriness of the perfectly fried chicken.
But what blew my mind to smithereens was the Honey Butter Fried Chicken Sandwich (P195 with One Side). This was easily among the best fried chicken sandwiches I've had in my lifetime. Imagine this: A deep fried, golden Chicken Fillet glistening in a luscious Honey Butter glaze, then perched on top of a vibrant Peach Slaw, before finally being nestled neatly between a perfectly toasted Brioche Bun.
There are a slew of other flavors of wings to choose from at Birdhouse, as well as Chicken Tenders and Fried Chicken, and I'm SO looking forward to trying them all!!
