I still remember when I tried the Brunch Menu of Cafe Enye at Eastwood, and I felt that I wouldn't be surprised to see more branches of this delicious discovery in the near future. A year later, Cafe Enye finally decided it was time to expand, with its second branch opening at Bonifacio Global City!
Nestled with the mezzanine floor of Citi Plaza at BGC, Cafe Enye brings its wide array of Colonial Spanish dishes, including some dishes fused with Pinoy cuisine to yet another location in the Metro.
THE FOOD
Rina would be very pleased with the Gambas Enye Style (P350), which featured plump pieces of shrimp, swimming in an olive oil bath, swirling in a variety of herbs and spices.
The Tapa Buns (P135 for 3pcs), was packed with delicious minced meat, marinated with that tapa flavor we all know and love, baked in a delicious bread casing, glazed with a sugary crust on top.
There is also a Callos Buns (P135 for 3pcs) version. The vibrance of the tomato sauce blends well with the light sweetness of the bun, making for a delicious treat.
The Chorizo Scotch Eggs aka Huevos Rellenos (P175), was actually a work of genius. using Chorizo instead of the traditional ground meat in re-creating the classic English picnic food, It instantly gave the dish a more Spanish feel. The egg, I must say was cooked perfectly, and the drizzling of Bechamel sauce balanced the dish together.
Homemade Garlicky Longganisa Paella Brunch Plate (P215) is available from 7am to 11am, and apart from pieces of flavorful longganisa, the platter includes your choice of egg, over a bed of Enye Rice, topped with Pickled Vegetables, Salsa and Crispy Fried Anchovies, served in a paellera.
I would rank carbonara as one of my favorite pasta dishes. And I think my love for all things pork has been made clear through the years. So it was a no brainer that I would go nuts over the Lechon Carbonara (P250). The creamy sauce over the al dente pasta was taken to new heights by the deliciously crisp bits of Lechon Kawali Meat. This was mind-blowingly delicious.
With Paella being one of my family's heirloom dishes, I have very high standards when it comes to it. But I believe the Moroccan Curry Paella was a great twist on the classic. The infusion of Curry was a nice twist to the classic, and the pieces of tender Roasted Moroccan Chicken added a touch of savoriness to it, and blended together perfectly with the rice.
The Cochinillo ala Casa (P1,400) is a great dish to add if you're dining with a large party. The delicately roasted Pork Leg featured skin that was cooked to a glorious crisp, while managing to maintain a level of uncanny juiciness to the meat. The Cochinillo is served with several sauces, including Chimichurri, and a Soy Sauce Vinegar mixture that appeals to the Pinoy Palate.
For the grand Finale Cafe Enye brought out the Chouxros with Dulce De Leche Cream (P170), and boy was it spectacular. Eschewing the traditional Churros mixture, Cafe Enye uses Choux Pastry, to create an innovative new breed of deliciousness.
The Chouxros were flaky and crisp, without being overly oily. The Dulce De Leche Cream did a wonderful job of infusing the right amount of sweetness, and the Dark Chocolate dip infused with peanut butter showcased the depth of flavors that pair well with the Chouxros.
It's nice to see a home grown brand such as Cafe Enye steadily make a name for itself, and win the hearts of its diners. Hopefully, Cafe Enye's upward trajectory continues, and we'll see more of their branches around Metro Manila in the near future!
