When you think of going out to a sports bar to watch a big game or fight, you normally think of food such as Chicken Wings, Fries, Nuts, and Nachos as your typical Bar Chow. However, There's a Sports Bar in Pasig that offers you a comfortable place to enjoy your favorite games, while feasting on some delicious Thai BBQ and other favorites... Siam Thai Sports Bar and Restaurant!
Located at the Pioneer Center Complex, Siam Thai has a festive ambiance and fun vibe that one looks for when looking to throw back a few beers with the buddies while watching sports, and munching on some Thai BBQ.
But more than just a "Bro" place, Siam Thai also features several items from Thai cuisine done with meticulous execution that would make you think you've spent one night in Bangkok.
Siam Thai even includes a "secret" function room that can comfortable seat around 20 people, making it perfect for small gatherings of friends and even business meetings!
STARTERS
People get surprised when I tell them how much I love Catfish, and Siam Thai's Crispy Catfish with Mango Salad (P190) was the perfect example of why I love it so much. Though the tartness of the mango salad perfectly played with the texture of the catfish, I had to go slow with it because of my hyperacidity. Delicious, nonetheless!
Two other dishes that they served but I didn't try were the Fresh Salmon Salad with Thai Vinaigrette Dressing (P190), and the Fresh Spring Rolls in Thai Dipping Sauce (P180). Considering that both were wiped out without hesitation, it seems like it was a great way to start a meal.
Siam Thai takes pride in its Tom Yum Soup with Seafood (P240), which is one of the most iconic dishes from Thailand. The heat on this fiery soup is sure to please any lover of spicy food, and the medley of seafood gives it an added depth of flavor.
I cannot go to a Thai restaurant and NOT order Pad Thai Noodles (P220). I was please to discover that Siam Thai's version is spot on, filled with generous helpings of ingredients that belies its affordable price.
Another Thai staple that I look forward to is the Chicken Pandan (P200). This delicious piece of juicy chicken was meticulously wrapped in pandan leaves, giving it an innate sweetness that enhanced the natural flavor of the chicken. It was amazing!
The Bagoong Rice had the strong flavor of shrimp paste, topped with thin strips mango for a touch of acid, and bits of pork and onion for a more pronounced savoriness.
If you're a Seafood lover, then Seafood Combo (P450) will undoubtedly delight your senses. A generous medley of fresh seafood doused in a vibrant red curry sauce for less than P500 is a great deal!
DESSERT
Though I'm not a fan of water chestnuts in general, the Water Chestnut with Coconut Cream made for a nice palate cleanser after an amazing meal.
However, it was the Sweet Tapioca with Mango Salad, with its delicious play on citric and sweet mixed with a light creaminess, that really tickled my fancy.
Although I had to cut down on the mango because I had already some with the tapioca, I still couldn't resist grabbing a few bites of the Mango with Sticky Rice.
Reasonable prices and a relaxed atmosphere, paired with delicious food is what has made Siam Thai such a popular place to hang out and dine in! My personal favorites were the Pad Thai and the Chicken Pandan, and I look forward to going back to try the rest of their menu!
