I think 2017 was the year that the Food Park concept really took the metro by storm. Dropping by a food park makes me feel like im in Disneyland or something to that effect, but my problem is, living in the Philippines, we usually have to deal with the heat. Which is sort of why I tend to prefer the Food Hall concept more than the park.
The difference, you ask? AIR CON.
It may sounds like a small difference, but believe you me, its often a deal breaker for me when deciding where to eat.
Which is why I was excited when I heard about Industrie Food Loft. With a whole bunch of exciting gastronomic purveyors, housed under one air-conditioned roof? Count me in!
And the best part? It's located in Ortigas, which is located near me!
Here's a quick review of some stalls I was able to try during my first visit to Industrie Food Loft.
OPSTERS
Opster's gives you a taste of the dishes from the food paradise in the Philippines known as Bacolod. I spent an entire summer in Bacolod a few decades years ago, and was dazzled by their takes on Pinoy dishes that they made distinctly ilonggo. Opsters is an homage to that amazing cuisine.
The MUST TRY dish at Opster's has to be their Kansi (P265). A tender Beef Shank is simmered in the popular Bacolod Fruit, Batwan, with slices of Young Jack Fruit for a touch of sweetness that is balanced by the heat from the Chili, then a swirl of fragrance is added by some Lemongrass.
If you don't fall in love with the marrow on that bone, then you and I can't be friends.
As close to Bacolod as you can get!
The Chorizo Recado (P165) is your Pinoy Breakfast dreams taken to the next level. The light acid on the pork really helps bring out its natural flavor, and pairs perfectly with the creaminess of the Fried Egg.
Perhaps my biggest mistake in going to Industrie for the first time was only bringing one person with me. Although my buddy Mark is also known for his huge appetite, we ordered a little too much food, leaving us tapping out after only trying three restaurants.
I'll make sure to drop by again soon so I can review the other stalls at Industrie Food Hall!
