A TASTE OF THE BIG EASY AT CAFE CREOLE!

I rarely find myself at Resorts World. In fact, the last time I visited was months ago, when I went to try Johnny Kahuku's Shrimp House, by Celebrity Chef, Pete Ayson! Which makes it rather fitting that my return to Resorts World Manila was to try the newest concept by the awesome Chef Pete, Cafe Creole.

I did a little research on the restaurant and saw some of their amazing dishes, including a stunning brunch menu that left me whispering to myself, "Resorts World Manila".

Pretty soon, I was on my way to get my fill of some good old fashioned creole food!

With its jazzy interiors, including the brick walls and vintage photos,  Cafe Creole successfully transports you to a club on Bourbon Street, setting the tone for what you can expect to be a delicious meal of New Orleans Favorites!

One of the crown jewels in the kitchen of Cafe Creole, is the Ambrogi Wood Fire Pizza Oven. Ambrogi is one of the leading names of pizza oven manufacturers around the world, so you know your pies are in good hands.

THE FOOD

If you're looking for a sweet picker-upper, I can assure you the S'Mores Frap (P190) is a delicious way to go. Imagine an Espresso given the "Smore's" treatment, by peppering it with Marshmallows, Graham Crackers, Whipped Cream and Chocolate Syrup.

KETTLE POT

Although I'm not big on shrimp, I felt a trip to Cafe Creole wouldn't be complete without featuring one of their best sellers, the New Orleans Seafood Gumbo (P265). Plump Creole Shrimps swim in a flavorful Canjun Broth, mixed in with Andouille Sausage, over a bed of Steamed Rice.

WOOD FIRE PIZZA

Our gracious hosts put that magnificent oven of theirs to work, when they served us their Earth Bread (P360), a delicious pizza made with Wild Mushrooms, Roasted Tomatoes, Parmesan Crisps, and topped with Arugula Salad. Quite good, but I'm going to try their more meat based pizzas on my next visit!

CAFE CREOLE SPECIALS

Again, I'm usually not too big on shrimps, but the moment you wrap it in bacon, all bets are off. That is exactly what the Shrimp and Cheese Polenta (P390) is. Juicy pieces of White Shrimps, wrapped in smokey Bacon, and laying over a best of Creamy Cheese Polenta, then sprinkled with Fried Mushrooms, and a healthy pouring of Brown Jus, which adds a touch of savoriness to counter the richness of the polenta.

If you're looking for some awesome ribs, then Cafe Creole can definitely hook you up. Their Famous Baby Back Ribs (Half Slab P670/Full Slab P1,290), is pretty exceptional. A huge slab of Baby Back Ribs, are doused in their House BBQ Sauce, which adds smoky, tangy notes to the natural flavor of the meat. The Carolina Slaw offers a great balance to the robust flavor of the sauce, while the, Bibingka Corn Bread is nothing short of genius. And in true Creole style, the ribs is served with a side of Dirty Rice.

SOUTHERN BRUNCH

I'm a sucker for breakfast food, so I zeroed on on Cafe Creole's Brunch menu as soon as I arrived. Naturally, the first dish I ordered was the Wood Fired Bacon and Eggs (P390). This is a Thick Cut, House Blend Cured Bacon, served with Sunny Side Up Eggs, and Brabant Potatoes. The thickness of the bacon makes it look closer to liempo than bacon, but it has that smoky, yet lightly sweet glaze,  And let me just say, those potatoes are like manna from heaven.

The big daddy of the Brunch menu is the The Bourbon Street Hangover Breakfast (P580). This consists of some of the best Buttermilk Pancakes you will find, topped with an herb butter and Warm Maple Syrup, flavorful Garlic Sausage slices, Thin Strips Griddled Bacon, Two Eggs, Potato Hash, and Buttered Toast.

Easily one of the best breakfast platters you'll ever have in your life. And if this doesn't shake your hangover off, I don't know what will!

Completing your Big Easy experience, is of course, the Classic Beignets (P90) for dessert! These Deep fried Doughnuts are tossed in Confectioner's Sugar, sprinkled with almonds and are absolutely AMAZING.

Chef Pete knocks it out of the park once again with this new, exciting concept. The tantalizing flavors of New Orleans are evident in every dish that he whips up in Cafe Creole, and you all must definitely give it a try!

Thank you Bea, Xchosa and Mae for a wonderful time!
